Things I have learned today

Mice are actually quite clever creatures.
The bars on an old bird cage are not quite close enough together to keep mice secured inside.
Mrs Brown can scream astonishingly loudly.

Mice (and rats) can generally squeeze through any opening that's big enough for their head to go through. Don't be fooled by their fat little bodies.

I still haven't told the Strettons about my rat. I'm going to pretend I got him during the YPL week, I think, because that way no one will think he was one of Carrow's rats.

But Sebastian is a magic rat so he's very good about hiding when I tell him to hide, and not creeping around and scaring Mrs Stretton. So far, anyway.

That's a good idea. Or maybe you should wait and pretend Pansy gave him to you? The Strettons probably wouldn't want to make Mrs Parkinson angry by making you give back a 'gift' from Pansy. D'you think?

I guess you'll have to bring Sebastian with you on the trip, then?

Honestly, I don't understand why you insisted on bringing them in the house!

I like most animals but mice are just small and wiggly and Horrid.
