Private message to Justin Finch-Fletchley

I think you didn't see me, but I was turning around the corner of that stairwell just as that boy hexed you in the stomach. (That was Laurent Coty, I think. And it was his friend Henri Toubon along with him, wasn't it?) I was so surprised that I'm afraid I froze where I was. Anyway, they didn't see me. And then you took off so quickly after you picked up your book bag that that I didn't even have a chance to ask you: are you all right?

Oh, hullo, Luna.

Yes, I'm fine, thanks. I say, kind of you to ask. But really, it's nothing.

Well. I say nothing. One of my inkpots broke when Coty tossed my bag and it hit the wall a bit hard. Ink all over three of my homework assignments. Still. That's why one copies them before turning them in, what?

How are you, then? I say, any more missing shoes?

Thanks for the offer, Luna, but as you're in third-year classes and I've been sitting in on the fourth-years, I rather think your notes wouldn't apply, what?

But I do appreciate the sentiment. Truly.

And really, it's nothing. They just like having a bit of fun at my expense. It's odd to me, as I've lived in France almost my whole life, but to them I'm just a rosbif and a Squib's not a very good wizard in the bargain. So. I suppose they like thinking they can get me down.

Which is why I refuse to let it fuss me, do you see. Rather like people thinking it's amusing to hide your things in well odd places. It's just how it is, no use getting upset over it.

Besides, copying homework assignments isn't difficult. It's just a simple spell. One of my tutors showed me two summers ago.

Has anyone asked you to the Ball yet? I don't know if you even care to go, but I know third-years require someone inviting them. That is, my roommate JP doesn't have a date yet, if you'd like to go and no one has asked. I don't suppose you ought to be like Greengrass, that would almost be like inviting yourself, what? But I think you'd enjoy it if you got to go. And I don't know many others and JP is just really even more shy than I am, which is hard to imagine. So I offered to help him. Because I already asked someone, or I'd be happy to ask you, you know.

Oh, dash it. That has to have been the most backward invitation on behalf of another bloke ever put to parchment. It's just that this sort of talking to a girl is altogether different, isn't it, than just chatting, what?

Well, it sounds as if you two found a few things to chat about, what?
